5 Reasons To Be Thankful for Pets

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! As you start making plans for the autumn holiday, it’s important to remember the true meaning of the holiday: gratitude. Our furry friends are definitely something to be thankful for! Read on as a local Greenwood, IN vet lists some reasons to be grateful for pets.

Support

The love of an animal can be an amazing source of comfort in tough times. Fido and Fluffy can be quite the little cuddlebugs! Pets have a way of sensing when their human pals are down, and often stick closer than usual when their humans are feeling blue. Fido may put a paw on your leg in a show of doggy support, while Fluffy may just snuggle up on your lap and offer purrs and cuddles.

Loyalty

Pets stay with us through thick and thin. In fact, they often outlast jobs, cars, relationships, and even marriages. Our furry friends never judge us, nor do they care what kind of car we drive or what we do for work. Unwavering devotion and friendship are definitely things to be thankful for!

Laughter

Laughter is definitely one of the best things in life, and our furry pals certainly provide us with plenty of it. Pets have a special way of making us smile, even on bad days. It’s hard not to chuckle when watching a dog happily bounding after his favorite toy, or when seeing a frisky kitty pouncing on a fuzzy catnip mouse.

Protection

Although dogs may be better known as guardians than cats, kitties do also watch out for people in their own way. There are many tales of both dogs and cats saving the lives of their human pals. Fido also tells us when someone is at the door, while Fluffy has let her humans know about fires and illnesses, and has even chased off intruders!

Love

There’s something truly wonderful about knowing that your four-legged pal will be waiting to greet you when you walk in the door. It’s also great to curl up with your dog or cat and a good book or movie on a cold, dreary day. Pets truly make our houses into homes, and make our families complete.

Happy Thanksgiving! Please contact us with any questions or concerns about your pet’s health or care. As your Greenwood, IN vet clinic, we are here to help!
